Pike Attack Tourist In Hotel Pool
A tourist enjoying a holiday at a hotel in Thailand was the victim of an unprovoked pike attack on Sunday.
The victim, who has not been identified, was swimming in the pool when the pike came up from beneath her and bit her arm. She was able to get away from the fish and seek medical help.
Doctors say that she sustained some injuries but they are not thought to be serious.
This is not the first time that a tourist has been attacked by a pike in Thailand. In 2017, a woman was hospitalized after being bitten by one of the fish at a beach resort.
Pikes are native to Asia and can grow to over two meters in length. They are known for their sharp teeth and aggressive behavior.
Pike caught on camera swimming in family's pool
For one family in Florida, it was quite the surprise to find a large pike swimming around in their pool. The fish was eventually caught on camera by the homeowner as it swam around.
The homeowners, who wished to remain anonymous, said that they were "shocked" when they first saw the pike in their pool. They estimated that the fish was at least 1.5 feet long, and likely weighed more than 5 pounds.
The homeowners immediately contacted authorities to find out how to safely remove the pike from the pool. Officials told them that they would need to wait for a professional fisherman to come and remove the fish, as pikes can be dangerous when out of water.
In the meantime, the homeowners used a net and fishing pole to try and catch the pike themselves. However, they were unsuccessful in their attempts. The pike remained in the pool for several days before finally being caught by a professional fisherman.
Colorado Pike Attacks Dog In Leash
A Colorado woman says her dog was attacked last weekend by a large Pike that came out of nowhere. In the attack, the Pike bit her dog on the leash, causing severe injuries to the animal.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, told reporters that she and her husband were out for a walk around their neighborhood when the attack occurred. She said that they had just turned a corner when they saw the Pike, which was about four feet long, coming straight for them.
In a panic, the woman's husband picked up their small dog and tried to shield it from the Pike. Unfortunately, the Pike managed to sink its teeth into the dog's leash, causing significant injuries.
"My husband was yelling at me to run, but I couldn't leave my dog behind," said the woman. "The Pike was shaking it back and forth like it was nothing."
Fortunately, a neighbor who had seen what was happening came over and scared the Pike off. The woman rushed her injured dog to the vet where it underwent surgery for its injuries. The dog is expected to make a full recovery.
Despite this attack, experts say that pikes are generally not aggressive animals and that people should not be overly concerned about them. However, they do advise keeping an eye out for pikes while swimming or boating in lakes and rivers where they are known to reside.
Pike Slips Past Security And Into White House Pool
On Thursday, July 26th, a lone pike slipped into the White House pool and swam around for several hours before being removed by security.
The intrusion alarmed Secret Service agents, who were already on high alert after an incident just two days earlier in which an alligator was found swimming in the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall.
"This is Washington D.C., anything can happen," said one agent. "We're dealing with strange animals coming out of the woodwork now."
The pike was finally captured after it swam into a restricted area near the president's office. Witnesses say that it took six security guards to wrestle the fish onto the ground and detain it.
It's not yet clear how the pike got into the pool, but officials say that they are investigating possible security breaches.
Woman Attacked By Pike While Swimming
A woman swimming in a Massachusetts lake was attacked by a large northern pike on Wednesday. The woman, who has not been identified, suffered significant injuries to her leg and was airlifted to a local hospital.
Large pike are common in the lake, and officials believe that this one may have been attracted to the woman by her swimming movements. Fish and wildlife experts warn that large pike can be very dangerous and pose a serious threat to human safety.
Lake managers are currently investigating the incident and looking for ways to prevent similar attacks in the future. In the meantime, they advise swimmers and boaters to use caution when in areas where large pike are known to live.
